Nutty Rush Beginner Guide: Controls & Tips
What to Expect
Nutty Rush is a 3D platform adventure starring Pöfürdük, a squirrel trying to keep the Great Forest's giant nuts from Grimtalon. Its 25 levels cross five themed worlds with stars, slides, a rideable mouse companion, and a boss at the end of each world.
Core Gameplay
Core Movement and Nut Throws
Running, jumping, double-jumping, and throwing nuts form the basic route through each stage. Use ordinary movement to learn a platform before adding speed or an attack. When an enemy shares a landing, decide whether to throw first or use the jump to preserve space instead of attempting both inputs at once.
Traveling Through Five Worlds
Nut Forest, Dark Cave, Autumn Valley, Snowy Mountains, and City Rooftops change the visual setting and the routes underfoot. Enter each world expecting its platforms to require a fresh read. Carry familiar controls forward, but do not assume that a jump learned in one environment has the same approach in another.
Riding Sivri
Sivri adds speed across open ground and can be left when finer control is needed. Mount with Q when the next section offers a clear lane, then dismount before a narrow platform or carefully timed jump. The companion is a travel tool, not a requirement to stay mounted through every obstacle.
Stars, Nuts, and Play Spaces
Slides and ball pits vary the movement, while stars and giant nuts reward exploration. Look at the route to the next safe platform before detouring for a collectible. A star is worth pursuing when the return path is visible; if the pickup leaves no controlled landing, learn the stage first and return later.
Reading a Boss Opening
Bosses must be dodged until a vulnerable opening allows a nut strike. Watch one complete attack pattern before pressing forward. When the opening appears, throw with F, then prepare to evade again rather than remaining beside the boss in hope of landing an extra hit.
Twenty-Five Saved Levels
The five worlds contain twenty-five handcrafted stages and progress saves automatically. Use that structure to learn one level at a time. A failed collectible attempt or boss pattern does not erase the whole journey, so favor deliberate information over a risky shortcut made only to avoid replaying a short section.
Controls
Move with the arrow keys or WASD, press Space to jump and again in the air to double-jump, F to throw a nut, Shift to sprint, E to gnaw, and Q to ride or dismount Sivri. Touch devices use on-screen buttons.
Arrows or WASD move, Space jumps, F throws a nut, Shift performs the listed extra movement input, E gnaws, and Q mounts or dismounts Sivri. Test the jump and double jump on a broad platform, then check F at a safe distance from an enemy.
Touch devices provide on-screen controls. Keep the movement and jump areas unobstructed, and identify the buttons for throwing, gnawing, and riding before a boss or narrow route. If a control label differs, use the one shown in the game.
Beginner Tips
Save the Second Jump
Keep the double jump in reserve until a platform's height or landing distance is clear. A reserved second jump can correct an uncertain platform height or landing distance. Make the first jump from a repeatable edge and watch how Pöfürdük travels. Press again only when the added height or reach is necessary. Spending both inputs immediately leaves no answer to a moving or misread target.
Ride on Open Ground
Press Q to ride Sivri on open ground where the extra speed is useful, then dismount for careful jumps. Sivri's extra speed pays off where the path is broad and readable. Mount at the beginning of an open run, then leave the companion before a sequence that demands small adjustments. If a mounted approach becomes unstable, slow the decision down by dismounting rather than forcing precision at travel speed.
Dodge Before Throwing
During a boss fight, evade first and throw with F only when the boss becomes open to a hit. Boss damage comes after survival. Let the attack reveal its safe gap, move through that gap, and throw a nut only during the stated opening. If the throw misses, return to evasion and wait for the pattern again. Chasing the boss during its attack turns one missed chance into unnecessary damage.
Common Mistakes
Attacking Through the Boss Pattern
Sprinting into a boss attack instead of waiting for the stated vulnerable window. Sprinting toward a boss while its attack is active ignores the opening built into the encounter. Stop trying to trade hits, watch the direction and duration of the danger, and move first. The next vulnerable window will be easier to use when the character arrives with space and a ready throw.
Keeping Sivri for Precision
Staying mounted when precise platform control matters more than Sivri's speed. Mounted speed can carry a careful jump beyond its intended landing. The warning is a platform section where steering corrections become larger than the available surface. Dismount before the takeoff, relearn the edge at normal speed, and bring Sivri back only after the precise route is complete.
Practice Plan for Nutty Rush
Use an early level to make three ordinary jumps and three delayed double jumps from the same type of edge. Then ride Sivri across open ground and dismount before the next precise platform. The goal is to feel the transition between travel speed and careful movement.
At a boss, spend the first cycle only dodging. On the second, identify the opening without attacking; on the third, add one F throw and immediately reset for defense. Finish by collecting a nearby star only after tracing the safe route back.
Decisions
When a star sits beyond the direct level route, compare the return jump with the remaining objective. A collectible path is ready when both directions are visible. If only the outward leap is clear, reach the next safe platform first and study the approach from a better angle.
When Sivri carries Pöfürdük toward a mixed section, dismount before the first precision obstacle rather than at its edge. The small transition gives time to re-center the camera and movement. Extra speed is valuable across open ground but should not dictate the control method for the entire level.
When a boss opening appears, make one throw and observe the response. A second attack is justified only if the vulnerable window clearly remains. Otherwise, return to movement. Preserving the next dodge keeps the pattern readable and prevents a successful hit from becoming a damaging trade.
Checklist
- If the landing height is uncertain, preserve the double jump until the arc is clear.
- If the path narrows, dismount Sivri before precision matters.
- If the boss is attacking, dodge first and wait for the vulnerable window.
- If a collectible detour lacks a safe return, finish learning the level before taking it.
Progression and Modes
Automatic saving supports a journey through twenty-five levels, five themed worlds, collectible stars and giant nuts, and a boss at each world's end. New environments add route questions, while Sivri and the attack inputs expand the options. The dependable foundation remains controlled movement and a deliberate response to each opening.
Device Setup
Keyboard players can use arrows or WASD with Space, F, Shift, E, and Q. Touch players receive on-screen controls and should identify every action before a boss. Keep the character and landing surface visible together; a zoom or hand position that hides the edge makes double-jump timing harder to judge.
